On August 13, TVING and production company YLAB officially announced that the K-drama Study Group will be returning for a second season. The show's lead, NU'EST Hwang Min Hyun, is also confirmed to reprise his role.
The first season of Study Group, which was released in January, was a major success both in Korea and internationally. It topped the list for new paid subscribers on TVING for five weeks straight and was popular with viewers in 143 countries.
YLAB was also proud of the commercial success and artistic quality. They plan to use Season 2 to expand the show's intellectual property, with the goal of turning it into a "super IP."
Besides the confirmation of a second season, Study Group has been nominated for "Best OTT Original" at the 2025 International Streaming Festival Global OTT Awards.
Study Group is also expanding beyond the live-action K-drama. Plans for "One-Source Multi-Use" (OSMU) projects are in the works, and a crowdfunding campaign for a windbreaker from the show reached 450% of its goal in just three days.
